They only call me Mrs when I buy a pregnancy test

Just to clarify: I'm not pregnant. No, seriously mom. NOT PREGNANT.

Now that we have that out of the way...

Tonight, we needed some milk, so we decided to pack up the kids and go for a quick outing to the grocery store, instead of one of us just going out alone. Because we are super fun like that. Woohoo! Trip to the grocery store!!

Usually it's me doing the grocery shopping alone. And the cashier always calls me "Miss Peanut". But tonight, the cashier paused before handing me my receipt, looked my family over, and then said, "Thank you Mrs. Peanut."

Being called "Mrs" reminded me of an observation I made back when I was more readily fertile. Really the only time that the cashiers have called me "Mrs" is whenever I have bought a pregnancy test. Seriously. Every single time. And I bought a lot of pregnancy tests when I thought I was pregnant with KK (I did a pregnancy test every 2nd day until I finally got a positive one). Each time, the cashier would look at the pregnancy test, then their gaze would shift directly to my wedding rings, and then they would finish with the "Thank you Mrs Peanut."

It is observations like these that fill up my brain, taking up WAY too much useful space. What random observations are filling up your brain these days?

  1. Every time I go to the grocery store alone, I am called Mrs. H-----. Not quite sure why as I am about as single as it gets ;) I rarely remember to wear any of my rings, in fact the only jewelery that I can even remember to put on is my watch!

    As for random observations:

I realized this morning (as I was going over a list of phobias for my psych class) that I most definitely do not suffer from amathophobia - the fear of dust!

If only this were so! Then maybe I wouldn't be distracted by drawing in the dust on my desk instead of studying ;)

  2. People always tell me that it looks like I have my hands full. I mean lots of people have three children. It's not that unusual! Why do people always say this. Do I look particularly inept?

  5. These are the kinds of things that fill up my brain too. Hilarious. I've noticed the ring check when getting pregnancy tests too (not lately). And my skin doesn't like my ring so I don't wear it that often. I'm sure all the "regular" places I go, they all think I'm a single mom. Which is fine. Just interesting how people make judgments before they really know. So they don't call me Mrs. :)
