Like a chicken with its head cut off...

As a mommy and housewife, I get very little time to myself, so when I do finally get a few minutes to myself, you'd think I'd be very productive. Or calm. Or asleep. (I love to sleep. Did you know that?)

But NO. I'm neither productive or calm or asleep. I am like a chicken with its head cut off. Or like a toddler at a birthday party. Or a teenager who just got her driver's license and the keys to her daddy's car.

I get so excited that I have free time that I run around the house, trying to decide what to do with said free time... doing a little of this and a little of that... and suddenly it's over. And I've accomplished 5% of each item on my list.

I swear I'm more productive with a toddler wrapped around my left leg and a preschooler poking my brain with questions every 30 seconds. Hmmmm... there's a lesson here, I'm sure.

  1. Maybe you miss the structure that you need to function with a toddler wrapped around your leg and a preschooler asking questions? Perhaps, if you thought of your free time as time 'free of children' rather than time 'free of structure' you'd find the enjoyment? Of course, I'm not much better! When I have free time, I seem to just sit there because I can't actually figure out what to do! Its not actually restful because my brain is going like a thousand kilometers an hour as I consider all the things I COULD do and then by the time I figure it out...I've used all my free time.

I can already see that its just going to get more complicated if I am blessed with children :)

  2. I do the same thing. On the weekends all I think about is what am I going to do when Thomas goes down for a nap. That is my only free time and I love every second of it.
